Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Yellow Cornmeal
  • cup White Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3.5 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 cup Milk
  • cup Vegetable Oil

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease your baking pan and set it aside.
  • In the large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Stir until well mixed.
    1 cup All-Purpose Flour, 1 cup Yellow Cornmeal, 2/3 cup White Sugar, 1 tsp Salt, 3.5 tsp Baking Powder
  • In the medium bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vegetable oil.
    1 Egg, 1 cup Milk, 1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cornbread to cool slightly before cutting it into squares. Serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a touch of honey or some finely chopped jalapeños to the batter.
