Ingredients

  • 1 kg Beef preferably a tender cut, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup Olive Oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Ground Cumin
  • 1 tsp Ground Coriander
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Ground Paprika
  • ½ tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 2 Lemons Juices
  • Salt and Black Pepper to taste
  • Fresh Parsley chopped (for garnish)
  • 5 Pita Bread for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric, ground paprika, ground cinnamon, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to form the marinade.
    1/2 cup Olive Oil, 3 cloves Garlic, 1 tsp Ground Cumin, 1 tsp Ground Coriander, 1 tsp Turmeric, 1 tsp Ground Paprika, 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon, 2 Lemons, Salt and Black Pepper to taste
  • Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade. Ensure each piece is well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight for the flavors to seep in.

  • Heat the grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the marinated beef slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  • Rest the grilled beef, covered in aluminium foil, for about 5 minutes. Then slice into thin strips.
  • Serve the sliced beef in warm pita bread, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.

Notes

You can add other accompaniments like fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers), pickles, and sauces (like tahini or garlic yogurt sauce) while serving the shawarma.
